Tad Dietrich 2016

Tad Dietrich 2015

The threat of rain couldn't keep the pilots away from NC's best flying field and Mark's famous chicken!

Chilly-Chili 2015

On January 1st 2015, we were presented with sunny skies, not-too-cold temperatures, great food.... oh yeah... and great flying!

KAM Big Bird & Warbird 2014

Kinston Aeromodelers (KAM) had their Big Bird & Warbird event on Saturday, October 25th. They had great weather and a good turnout. Enjoy the pictures!

Warbirds Over NC 2014

A high of 75 degrees and a record number of pilots made for an AWESOME day of warbird flying. While it may have been a little breezy, it certainly didn't keep pilots on the ground. We have some fantastic raffle prizes as well. Thanks to all that joined us, enjoy the pics!

Tarheel R/C Flyers Fall AMA

The weather sure was hot but we had a great event! Plenty of people came out to eat Mark's chicken and fly at our beautiful field.

National Aviation Day

Tuesday, August 19th was National Aviation Day. Many avid R/C pilots made the journey to Kitty Hawk to where it all began.

First in Flight 2014

The guys that run First in Flight do a bang-up job every year, and the event just continues to draw more and more pilots. We had several members that brought out their jets and got in many flights.

Top Gun 2014

If Top Gun was to be described in one word, I believe everyone would agree that "wet" is a suitable definition. Lots or rain and wind, but the pilots and judges alike braved the elements. Jeff Foley with his Messerschmitt Bf-109 and Doug Dowling with his F7F Tigercat represented the Tarheel R/C Flyers.

Tarheel R/C Flyers Tad Dietrich Memorial 2014

While a pretty good breeze blew throughout the day, it didn't keep planes on the ground. Blue skies, Mark's famous BBQ chicken, and fantastic raffle prizes made for another successful event.

Chilly-Chili 2013

Tarheel R/C Flyers Tad Dietrich Memorial 2013

Blue skies and light winds greeted us for our annual Tad Dietrich Memorial fly-in. With almost 40 pilots, the flight line was busy all day. Mark and his crew once again cooked his famous BBQ chicken. Topping off the event was a noon-time demo of full-contact combat and a raffle with great prizes. Thanks to everyone that came out and supported us!

SQuiRT Day

On Sunday July 28th, 22 members of the Tarheel R/C Flyers came out to fly the SQUiRT, a small electric-powered trainer airplane that has made its way through all 48 continental US states. That was 2 years, 11 months, and 347 days after Mike Then (WAA Pilot #397) threw his hat in the ring. The SQuiRT has traveled over 27,000 miles, flown by 719 pilots for almost 1,000 flights. The SQuiRT is back home in Virginia, where it all began 5 years, 1 month, and 29 days ago. Her final resting place will be in the AMA Museum once her final \'tour\' is complete in September/October of 2013. Enjoy the pics - we had beautiful weather and a huge turnout!

IMAC World Qualifier

Because we have eastern NC\'s PREMIERE flying site (being halfway between major competition areas helps too), we were contacted by the IMAC, and asked to hold the first round of the world qualifiers. We were more than happy to oblige!

Warbirds Over NC 2013

Mother Nature owed us one, and boy did she deliver! After years of hurricanes, rain, clouds, rescheduling, and headaches, we had clear blue skies and low winds for our annual Warbird fly-in!
